[Arid_gardener] jacaranda mimosifolia trees

Situation:
 
Top of new tree (approximately 6 feet tall) appears to be dying.  Wood  looks 
good and has branched towards the top but appears dormant.  Tall  green 
growth from very bottom indicates to me that the tree is very much  alive. What 
should we do.  Resident wants tree removed thinking it is  dead. I think we 
should watch and wait.  Maybe do some very light  trimming.  What is your advice ?
