This sounds like a Mesquite, Mark. I have an adult in my yard with 3/4th
inch rock. I will use my yard vacuum today and get rid of 99% of the litter.
Some pods get lodged in the rock. Those I pick by hand. I once used a blower
to concentrate in a pile but that seemed to drive some in deeper. Use the
most effective method for your terrain and ground cover determined by logic
or trial and error. For quarter minus gravel, a rake is effective. For me, a
vacuum is best but a few seeds will get through the crack and sprout but it
is no bigger a deal than common weeds.
