[Arid_gardener] Flower care

1. Our chocolate flower stems have grown as long as 30 inches from the
taproot. They need to be pruned to look neater. The flowers have declined;
is this a good time to prune? How long should the stems be after pruning?
2. Our tufted evening primroses are essentially done flowering, and we've
been told to replant the little "baby plants" here and there to fill in the
bed. Should the "parent plants" (old central section which looks nearly
dead now) be dug up and discarded? When?
Thanks,
Bill Woody
