Your local newspaper should have the information on the weather page, e.g.,
>From today's Arizona Republic:
" 0.66 inches is needed for Bermudagrass if last watered 3 days ago."
To determine watering depth, from:
http://ag.arizona.edu/azmet/phx/lawnstep.htm
"Step 1.
Place empty shallow, flat-bottom cans on your lawn.
Three or four evenly spaced cans should suffice for
a 15' x 15' lawn. Use more cans for larger lawns.
Step 2.
Turn on the sprinklers for exactly 15 minutes.
Step 3.
Measure the depth of water in each can to the nearest
tenth of an inch, and record all depths on a piece of paper.
If you don't have a ruler marked in tenths of an inch,
measure the water depths with a standard ruler ..."
Determine the average depth by adding the depth accumulated in each can,
then divide by the number of cans. This gives the amount for 15 minutes.
Calculate the time need to get the correct amount (.66 inches for today)
