Dear Mike,
Your new roses are suffering from heat stress due to them having a limited root system (new bushes) and maybe too much fertilizer.
They need 5 to 8 gollons of water every two days at present - if you are using a dripper, measure it by running it into a 5 gallon bucket. Do not trust the marking on the dripper. Give them just a little fertilizer (half strength) until the temp is below 100F again. Or no fertilizer, they will do better than being over fertilized. Do NOT remove any leaves, any shade for the stalks is better than none. You should have 2 to 4 inches deep of mulch around the bush.

Hello:
I have 2 new rose bushes that I planted about a month ago. They are getting new leaves and 1 is getting new roses but the leaves on both plants continue to turn brown . I read where they need lots of water so I have been doing that. Could the brown leaves be a pest or a lack of something in the soil?
I also read an article that says that all of the oleanders will eventually die due to a bug that is coming to the valley? Is this true? Also 1 of my oleanders (sister agnes) was growing very quickly earlier this year but the last few weeks it seems droopy. I have watered it but it still seems droopy. Have I watered it too much? I know they are very hardy and like the heat so I don't think that could be the problem. Any ideas?
Thanks
