If you want switch to common Bermudagrass,  now would be a good time if you
can eliminate the Santa Ana.  But there isn't any grass that I know of that
will tolerate dog feces if it is not picked up immediately or will not be
killed spottily from a female dog's urine.  Males tend to squirt a bit in
various places to mark their territory but females tend to get it all over
with at all once which can kill the grass temporarily in that spot.

We also have a Santa Ana lawn but we trained our dogs to do their thing away
from the lawn.
