[Arid_gardener] Mesquite. DISADVANTAGES

Genie or anyone else,

What kinds of trees similar to mesquites could be planted within 5o feet of a septic tank?  Our house faces west and they put the septic in the front yard so trying to get some shade on the front of the house is going to be quite tricky.  We are out in the desert at about 1700 feet elevation in the NW Valley on the way to Wickenburg.  We have some mesquite planted but will have to move them before they get really entrenched.  There was already one planted that is about 8-10 feet high now but it is a little further away.
