We have a sick queen palm. It's over 40 years old and taller than the house. Doesn't seem to like being buffeted by winds. It's mostly "skinned" and near the top where there are a few stumps of fronds there is a big split in the trunk---It runs vertically about a foot down just below where the last frond stumps are and is probably about 2 inches deep. Does anyone know what this is or how long queen palms live. I know they're not well adapted to Phoenix--it came with the house and used to be pretty.
