Jackie:
I have no solid clue what ails your mountain laurel but I respectfully suggest that you are asking the wrong people. The county in which you live should have a University of Texas Cooperative Extension. Contact your nearest office and you should have your answer from an expert familiar with local conditions. In some areas, the person responsible is called the County Agricultural agent. That office is charged with helping the public in many levels of civilian agricultural and horticultural activity. Technically, your state taxes pay for the service and you don't have to be embarrassed when soliciting their help but I am confident you will find them generous and amiable..

I AM SO HAPPY TO FIND SOMEONE TO ASK THIS QUESTION. OUR BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN LAUREL SEEMS TO BE SICK. AFTER BLOOMING PROFUSELY LAST SPRING '06 THIS SPRING SEEMS TIRED.......WE LIVE IN SAN ANTONIO, TX......................WE ARE USUALLY IN A DROUGHT, BUT NOT THIS YEAR SO FAR. HALF OF THE TREE IS BLACK. THE SEED PODS ARE SICKLY AND IT LOOKS LIKE WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO CUT THAT HALF DOWN. WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT, AND CAN I APPLY SOMETHING GENTLE TO THE BIRDS AND VEGETATION AROUND IT??????? HOPE I'M IN TIME WITH THE QUESTION !!!!! JACKIE
