I have a healthy Sweet Chinese Lemom on one stem, 8 feet tall, about 5 feet
wide and close to 30 feet long trained on a chain link fence. I didn't need
the fence but it is easier with it and it provides total privacy from the
alley.. Almost any citrus, except a dwarf perhaps, of your choice would do
with very little pruning and maintence once it is established. Citrus
provides a total barrier and you can, if you wish, graft and bud a dozen
other varieties to it. I have a Tangerine and a Naval grafted to mine but
could not find them recently. I believe they are still there but obscured. I
ate fruit from both grafts but a year or so ago.
You can prune citrus to any size size you want.
