In addition to the recommendations provided by others, one easy -to-follow 
method is at

It gives quantity based on current evapotranspiration rates.

http://ag.arizona.edu/azmet/phx/lawnstep.htm
gives an easy way to measure quantity for 15 minutes and how to adjust the 
time period to apply the correct amount.

You may find you need to make adjustments to account for your type of turf 
and soil conditionds but it is a good place to start.  I find that it is a 
bit more water than my lawn needs.
