[Arid_gardener] Ellen -- Raised Bed Garden

Dear Ellen,

Use shellac -- the brush on type. (NOT the spray stuff that is mixed
with lots of thinners.)
Coat all sides AND ends of the wood. Allow them to thoroughly dry
before assembling.

It's safe... and termites find the taste repulsive. :-)

Good Luck, Genie

I am constructing a raised garden in my Phoenix backyard. I'm making a 6'x4' rectangle out of green douglas fir. I would like to finish the wood but don't know what type of finish would be food safe. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ellen
