Our acacia, which is 5 years old, has 5-6 bored holes in the trunk and the largest upper branch, which has lost its leaves. The holes are 1/4 inch and oval. The trunk bark has come loose in many areas. There is no sap. I can't see the insects. I sprayed the tree this morning with Permethrin, giving the tree a good dripping spray. Is there anything else I should do and how often do I spray? If this is a lost cause, please let me know. I am afraid these insects will damage my other shade trees which I have had for many years. Thank you for your time and response.
