I have a mature palo brea tree in my front yard (probably 8-10 yrs old), it's a great tree but this year I've noticed the following:
--bark looks yellowish (as opposed to typical blue-green)
--defoliated early (late Aug/Sept) and is still sparsely foliated
--there are several spray sprinklers under the tree, one of which hit the bark with the spray (it has since been turned off as have two others - too much water)
--there are med brown little raised bumps on some of the trunk and larger branches that rub off if you touch them.
I'm thinking the area the tree is in just got too much water (veggie gardens surround it). But I would love a second opinion. I would hate to lose this tree!
Thank you!
