[Arid_gardener] Mesquite tree care

My wife and I moved into a new home one year ago. We have 2 mesquite trees  
in our front yard. I had the trees pruned this afternoon and noticed that a  
strip of bark about 12 to 14 inches long and about 1 inch wide had been  pulled 
from the tree. The tree is a little over 1 year. My question is ,will  this 
bark re grow and what can I do to care for the tree. Hope you can help me.
