We have a Wonderful Pomegranate in full sun where it does just fine. I
won't attempt to answer your roots question (I'm not a Master Gardener), but
my experience is that your Pomegranate will attract any roof rats in the
area. They seem to prefer pomegranates over everything else, including any
of the 10 varieties of citrus we have.

Thus, I would suggest you make sure that no pomegranate branches touch your
house/roof to avoid encouraging them to take up residence there.

Also, leaf-footed bugs may also become a problem - they certainly are for
us.

Good luck, ...Derek
