We have lots of fairly dry mulch type material that is being thrown away 365 days a year. It's about a 2-3 yard a day volume.
It consists of the following:
Alfalfa hay
Bermuda grass hay
Horse manure
Lawn clippings
Leaves
Shavings
We keep a small working pile to give away for free using our tractor to load people's trucks and trailers. (We're located close in town by Cactus and Cave Creek Road.)
Option number one:
We have 7 acres and looking into building and starting an O2 system for recycling.
Would it be worth going through the hassle of all the different goverment permits for an on on-site composting operation and construction costs?
Option number two:
We haul it to a supplier or let the mulch supplier provide a roll off container or they haul it to their composting/mulching center.
The reason for this post is that our current cost of the 4 yard in ground dumpster has shot up to almost $600 per month and growing!
Hate to keep wasting a good resource that's going into the City of Phoenix's landfill...
