This is a good time to plant 1-gallon container nursery stock as it will
give the plants sufficient time to become established before the heat of
summer arrives. Be sure to keep the plant watered, meaning moist but not
soaking, up until March and then back off on the watering as the daytime
temperatures rise. Too much water will keep air from entering the soil,
which provides oxygen and nitrogen to the roots.
