[Arid_gardener] Reflected Heat

I just planted a Blue Potato Vine next to an east-facing block wall.  Then I
noticed the fine print on the tag said to protect the plant from reflected
heat.  Would a piece of green shadecloth attached to the wall work well?
Should it be spaced an inch or two from the wall to permit air circulation?
This is a little different from the classic radiant barrier problem in that
the heat source (sun) and the object to be protected (plant) are on the same
side of the barrier.
