Your season is a bit short up there but I believe most any deciduous fruit would flourish; citrus would be a bit futile unless it is growing in your living room. Cold weather crops like cabbage should thrive.

I remember a John Deere dealer years ago in Denver who had a healthy, fruiting Sweet Orange tree growing in a 15 gallon pot in his Westerly exposed bay window.

The best way to answer your own question, Jamie, is to find a plant nursery if there is one in the area. You can rely upon their advice. If it sits on their shelf, you can be reasonably certain it will survive in your yard as well with the same culture. But you can be a pioneer and experiment a little outside the box and have the neighbors knocking on your door.

The next best indicator is to drive around town and see what your nieghbors are cultivating. If you see an interesting garden don't be timid. Knock on their door and flatter them by asking questions. It is a great way to make new friends.

Your first requirement is to plant anything and everything in full sun, or the max you can get, and work the soil anf feed about the same way you would anyplace else. Be aware of how the soil drains..

Look for a garden club in the area. If there is none, it offers you a perfect excuse to start one.

I don't know if there is a County Cooperative Extension there or not. It would be easy to find one if there is.

If this poses more questions, don't hesitate to ask. Other gardeners in this forum are encouraged to respond.

It realy doesnt look like it would grow much without great deal of work enriching it first? Any thoughts or suggestions? Much appreciated.
