Subject: Pomegranates and leaf-footed bugs

Pomegranate that suffers every year from leaf-footed bugs.

I've been going out every night with a squirt bottle of
diluted Peppermint Castile soap and
a flashlight. A short squirt knocks them down and kills them - a lot easier
than trying to grab them, especially when they are high up. Plus they don't
generate that foul odor.

But it's very labor-intensive and I wonder whether it really does any good.
Seems like what they don't destroy, the roof rats get. :-(

We also are using glassine bags to try to protect some of the fruit - they
seem to weather better than just regular paper.
If you've any suggestions, we would love to hear them.
