My elementary school is designing an alternative playground habitat.  We want to provide opportunities for children to interact with nature, as well as play on traditional playground equipment.  I would appreciate some advice on appropriate kid friendly, safe shrubs, fast growing (if possible) trees, etc. that we might include in such a habitat to encourage observation and creative play.
