[Arid_gardener] Crown of Thorns

Others may disagree with me but I have never been able to grow my crown of thorns in full sun, or even fully outside.  Maybe it is because mine is potted but in the hottest part of summer we place it in an area where it only gets direct sun for about an hour and is shaded the rest of the time and have to bring it in during the winter or it dies because of the cold.

I just planted 2 of these plants in full sun because the nursery said they would take full sun, and now the leaves are turning brown and dying.  Should I cover them with sun screen?  What else can I do for them?
