[Arid_gardener] Crown of Thorns

Try to find a spot, if they can be moved, where these plants can get morning sun and afternoon shade where, perhaps they can grow into full sun with a more extensive root system that can keep up with high transpiration during subsequent episodes of heat.

But, be sure of the problem. Is the drainage adequate that you are not drowning the plant, that you have not over-fed it. Can you provide a temporary shadevwith a light remay loosely anchored through the summer.

Others may disagree with me but I have never been able to grow my crown of thorns in full sun, or even fully outside. Maybe it is because mine is potted but in the hottest part of summer we place it in an area where it only gets direct sun for about an hour and is shaded the rest of the time and have to bring it in during the winter or it dies because of the cold.

I just planted 2 of these plants in full sun because the nursery said they would take full sun, and now the leaves are turning brown and dying. Should I cover them with sun screen? What else can I do for them?
