Actually the north side of my house gets a lot of sun in the summertime - in 
the early morning and again in the afternoon. And bermudagrass grows there 
but not under my ash and locuest trees.

 I should have said it needs sunlight, not necessarily all day but for about 
6 hours.  Thanks for the corrrection.
