I have 5 trees in a yard with desert landscape ground cover.  They are all watered by drip irrigation.  How do I feed/fertilize them with the gravel covering?  I've tried an "in-line" system but that was an expensive mistake.  I've tried granules but I don't believe heavy watering gets much of the feed to the roots.  Any suggestions??
