I had a 'Barbara Karst' Bougainvillea that I never watered and it grew
okay. But the usual recommendation is to saturate the root zone, they let
it dry out completely before watering again. Thus the frequency and amount
depends on soil type and drainage. Too much water promotes foliage growth
and reduces the development of the showy bracts.
