Get small bag of Ammoniun Phosphate 16-20-0 and apply precisely as directed 
on the bag. If nutrient is the problem, Alice, you should see a rapid 
response in days not, however, over night. Arizona (desert) soils typically 
are deficient in nitrogen, the first number in the bag as in 16 above.  The 
second number is Phosphorous that is probably abundant in your soil.

The winter yellowing may be indemic. If you see no response, chalk it up to 
that.

Contrary and supplimentary response invited that I too might learn from the 
exchange.
