I have 2 fifty year old magnolia trees--huge, individual blossoms. One is lush and probably 30 foot tall and very full--similar to an avocado tree. The other is stunted--it's tall, but has never done well, had never bloomed, lots of dead wood. When I bought the house 4 years ago, I had the arborist come and do a systemic treatment and deep root fertilization 2 years in a row. Looked wonderful and for first time ever, produced many blossoms in the past 2 years. This year, leaves are all wilty and edged with brown--just like it was when I bought the house. Lots of falling leaves but has prolific blossom buds. Could this have verticillium wilt? If so, how can I be sure and what can I do?
