I'm not among the " ...powers that be...", just an occasional poster and
fulltime
lurker. But as I recall, when we subscribe to the list at
http://cals.arizona.edu/mailman2/listinfo/arid_gardener
it is expected that we read and agree to the rules and conditions as stated
therein. The problem you mention is addressed at the section:
===================================================
" * PROVIDING ASSISTANCE to someone who asked a question to the list
~ Use the subject line to ensure that it accurately reflects in detail the
content of your answer. This will make the archives much more useful and
easier to search.
(...)
~ Paraphrase enough of the question so that your answer will stand alone but
please do not continue to forward a long string of messages and
replies. Pull only what is pertinent. File size gets very large quickly
without some editing. ..."
Questions from the Maricopa County, AZ Home Horticulture website
http://ag.arizona.edu/maricopa/garden/html/general/question.htm
are sent directly to the list. The person who asked the question may not yet
be a subscribers to the list. To be sure that they benefit from your answer,
send it to them directly. You will be able to recognize questions from the
website because the from line will say:
SUBJECT: "Question from Home-Hort WWW page" ..."
====================================================
Most of us follow the rules but sometimes a message gets out
before we have reviewed it. I had one as recently as last January.
Also, some of us are septua- and octogenerians who are doing
pretty well just to find the "Reply All" button. We hope you will allow
us a little slack.
