[Arid_gardener] How to trim pomegranate tree in California

Hello Olin,
For a long time I was looking for guidance on how to trim my pomegranate tree. I found your answer and it is very thorough and helpful. Thank you. I have one more question, I live in Southern California and I have a "Wonderful" and a seedless pomegranate tree and the shoot offs or as you categorized them "suckers" are coming off now, can I trim them now which is May?
I really appreciate your response and help in this matter.
