[Arid_gardener] lily of the nile

I purchased and planted 2 large lily of the nile plants about a month
ago. They are planted in a large planter box with a western exposure
that gets filtered sun until about 2:00 pm then full sun until
sundown. They are beginning to bloom and appear healthy except for
the 3 or 4 leaves a week that turn brown and I remove. The brown
leaves are always on the outside perimeter. These brown leaves are
not particularly dry and the remaining leaves look okay. Could I be
over watering? I've read that they don't like "wet feet" . I'm
watering the perimeter of the planting box about every other day as
I've recently planted sweet potato vine planted there. I'm deep
watering the soil around the lily of the nile about every five days.
Originally the soil in the planter was hard and contained a lot of
clay. Before I planted the new plants I incorporated several large
bags of potting soil.

I've been reading everything I can on line about these plants but
I've found nothing the describes what's going on with mine. Do you
have any suggestions for me.
