The amount of fruit a tree is able to produce is directly proportional to
the amount of foliage it has to manufacture carbohydrates and the natural
posture of citrus is to grow foliage all the way to the ground because its
skin is susceptably to sunburn with prolonged exposure to bark normally
protected from sun by the foliage. I would never prune citruc except that
random branch that slaps my wife along side the head every time she walks
by; or not!
