[Arid_gardener] topping trees

Hi Peggy,
Generally speaking, the only good reason for topping a tree is in
preparation for killing it and removing it altogether.  If you're looking at
removing your orchid tree, this would be an excellent time to top it because
the sun damage that it will sustain on its upper branches will likely kill a
good portion of it.
