|Analysis of Sonoran Desert plant rhizosphere bacteria for novel secondary metabolites|
A collection of ca . 28,000 bacteria and 4,000 fungi has been isolated from over 50 species of native Sonoran Desert plants. In collaboration with the Southwestern Center for Natural Products Research and Commercialization, these isolates are being screened for the production of unusual secondary metabolites with anticancer properties.
