Admission to the Program
Department Requirements
|
The
Graduate Program Oversight Committee (GPOC), a committee composed
of faculty in the Department of Plant Sciences, recommends admissions
to the Graduate College. The decision to recommend a student applicant
is based upon a vote of the GPOC after consideration of a variety
of factors, including grade point average, curriculum, GRE and
TOEFL scores (if applicable), letters of recommendation, relevant
experience, and research interest. Decisions for admission are
final when approved by the Graduate College. |
|
In
addition to materials requested by the Graduate
College, all applicants to the graduate program in the Department
of Plant Sciences must provide
- Copy
of paper application submitted to Graduate College
(not necessary for online applications)
http://grad.arizona.edu/Prospective_Students/Apply_Now/
- A
letter describing the student's background and areas of interest
in relation to a graduate experience and Statement of Interest
- TOEFL
score (international students only)
- Three
letters of recommendation (In sealed envelopes)
- Official

- Graduate
Record Examination test scores (GRE) for the General Test, with
one advanced test recommended in an area related to applicant's
interests/background. (Codes: Institution, 4832; Department,
0112)
Candidates with academic deficiencies may be admitted
to the Department under a Provisional Status, if deemed appropriate
by the GPOC. Provisional Students can take courses and receive
graduate credit, be financially supported by the Department or
individual faculty, and participate in all other departmental
functions. The term for a provisional student will not exceed
two semesters, after which the GPOC will recommend that the student
be converted to normal graduate status or be dismissed from the
program. The Graduate Program Oversight Committee is the only
authority within the Department that establishes terms for conversion
from provisional to normal status. |
