growing cacti and succulents is their propagation. Whether to share
with friends as a home hobbyist or to be a professional propagator,
propagating thousands of cacti and succulents a year for a large
cactus and succulent nursery, propagation of cacti and succulents is
a rewarding endeavor. The ease of propagation of cacti and
succulents has led to an abundance of cacti and succulents being
offered for sale in retail markets and is a substantial wholesale
horticultural market through the dedicated efforts of the Arizona
and California cactus growers. Purposes for cactus and succulent
propagation include the following:
- Increase of numerous cacti or succulents for distribution and
sale (Wide variety of cactus and succulents)
- Increase of unusual and rare cacti and succulents for
distribution and sale (Madascagan succulents, Pediocactus)
- Increase of a specific flower color selection for
distribution and sale (Trichocereus hybrids , Epiphyllum
hybrids)
