Dr. Margaret Ray is an associate professor of economics at Mary Washington College and was a visiting research scientist at the RTIP. She received her doctorate in economics from the University of Tennessee. Her dissertation was on the economics of the horse breeding industry. She has published numerous articles on the horse breeding and race track industries. At the 2000 Symposium on Racing, Dr. Ray presented her popular computer program for estimating a race track’s economic impact as part of the panel, “Racing’s Economics.”
