Bachelor of Science degree
The Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture offered by The University of Arizona with the Race Track Industry Program Option requires 50 credit hours of general education courses as specified by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. (curriculum requirements)
In addition, there are 26 credit hours required within the RTIP option that are specific to racing including:

- Introductory Horse Science
- Organization and Administration of the Racing Department
- Animal Racing Laws and Enforcement
- Race Track Marketing and Media Relations
- Racing Organizational Structure and Management
- Race Track Business and Financial Management
- Development and Management of Racing
- The Joe Hirsch Speaker Forum
Course lectures are supplemented by presentations made on campus by invited “guest professors” from the racing industry chosen for their expertise on particular topics. An average of 10 guest speakers participate each semester.
An additional 35 credit hours are required within one of two emphasis paths - Business or Animal Management. The Business Path is structured for those students planning careers in management, marketing or regulation. The Animal Management Path is offered for those students interested in pursuing a career in training, sales, the breeding industry or farm management.
The remaining credits making up the 120 total credit hours necessary for graduation may be earned by completing an internship, independent study projects, the Joe Hirsch Speaker Forum and personal interest elective courses.
Both paths of study may be enhanced by some very special educational opportunities, including internships and the exchange student program.
