NEW BOOK OF SOIL PHYSICS EXERCISES
Dear Colleagues,
We are about to launch a major effort to produce a book of soil physics exercises.
The proposed audience is beginning students in soil physics and vadose zone
classes, both graduate and undergraduate levels. The approximate level is
that of Hillels Introduction to environmental soil physics
and Jury and Hortons Soil Physics. The purpose of the book
is to supply numerous practice exercises. There will be nine chapters altogether
with roughly 25 problems in each section. Each chapter will have a chapter
coordinator (listed below) Part of the questions will contain detailed answers
and part will be with final results only. Most questions will require short
answers, but there will be some requiring a spreadsheet or programs for which
directions to public domain software will be given.
We are asking your help to provide problems you believe are relevant. For example, old exam questions and homework are appropriate. You dont need to edit what you have or worry about providing neat solutions. Another contribution can be with Microsoft Excel utilities or other public domain software. Contributors will be listed as a group at the front of the book, whether or not their questions are chosen. Please send your questions (and any comments or recommendations) to: lazarovi@email.arizona.edu
Thanks,
Art Warrick and Naftali Lazarovitch
