and Crop Management
Nitrogen contamination of the environment, particularly nitrates in water supplies, and nitrous oxide loss to the atmosphere, is a major concern. Efficient use of nitrogen fertilizers and a thorough understanding of factors controlling nitrogen transformations are critical for effective management. Current projects involve nitrogen transformation, fate, and management and are providing information that can improve efficiency of nitrogen use and lead to minimization of agricultural environmental impact.
nutrient management is studied to maximize fertilizer use efficiency
and crop production on a wide range of horticultural and agricultural
crops grown in Arizona (Brown,
Sanchez, Silvertooth and Walworth).
- Nutrient behavior and management are studied in projects involving restoration of disturbed and contaminated soils Walworth).
