Annual Plan 1975 Walker Basin (S) Allotment

This plan outlines the range management and improvement work to be accomplished during the 1975 grazing season.

Permitted Numbers

Three hundred and twenty-nine (329) head of cattle (262 V-Bar-V and 67 Sullivan) are permitted on the allotment for a period of June 1 through October 31. In addition to the numbers above, there are private land permits to cover eight (8) horses (V-V) and forty-one (41) head of cattle (39 V-V and 2 Sullivan).

Movement of Cattle

Snake Ridge, 6/1 - 6/15

Pine, 6/16 - 8/20

Steer and Heifer, 8/21 - 10/15

Snake Ridge, 10/16 - 10/31

Cattle should be moved through the Steer and Heifer pastures as quickly as possible in the spring of the year. All stock should be out of these pastures by 10/15 and out of Snake Ridge by 10/31.

Range Improvement Maintenance and Construction

1. In addition to annual minor maintenance, the following fences are slated for heavy maintenance.

A. The west allotment boundary fence from the corner near Five-Mile Pass tank, south to Buckhorn. This includes the Waterlot at Sugarloaf tank and the Horse Pasture fence.

Salting

Salt shall not be placed on water. Areas of light use should be salted. Salt should be moved to coincide with increased use of an area.

Horses

All horses will be kept in the designated horse pastures until fall shipping. During shipping horses may be kept where they are most convenient for use.

Fire

Controlled forest use may be necessary during the summer due to high fire danger. The permittee will be contacted if this action is necessary.
