Dear Bill:

This letter will serve, as our Annual Plan of Grazing for 1976 for the Walker Basin Allotment per our discussion with you at the time of taking your grazing application on December 12, 1975.

Permitted livestock numbers and seasons of use for the Walker Basin (W) allotment are, indicated on the Bill for Collection which you will receive.

In 1976 management on the Walker Basis (W) Allotment will be as follows:

1. Cedar Flats and Twin Buttes Units:

At the present time, livestock are utilizing these units. Cattle may remain in the Cedar Flats Unit from 1/1 to 5/15, and in the Twin Buttes Unit from 1/1 to 3/1. By 3/10 the Twin Buttes Unit will be cleared of all livestock in order to allow, for deferment during the spring growing season.

2. Walker Basin Unit and Shipping Lane:

These units may be utilized by livestock from approocieatsly 3/1 to 5/1, or until cattle start toward Buckhorn and summer range. These cattle should move to summer range via the Shipping Lane.

3 . Russell and Wickiup Units:

With conditions as they are is the Valley due to the extremely dry year in 1975, every attempt should be made to stay out of these units this spring. Should weather conditions change or utilization is the other units dictate a change from this, we can discuss the possibilities at a later date. No livestock will be placed in these units or gates opened prior to notifying Larry or me.

4. Bull Pastures:

Your bulls should be moved into the Bull pasture from the Shipping Lane by 3/1. They will remain here until they are placed with the cow herd.

5. Horse Pasture:

Seven (7) horses will utilize the Horse Pasture at the ranch headquarters from 1/1 to 3/31, per your private land permit.

6. Cattle will move to Buckhorn for branding via the Shipping Lane. All cattle will be removed from winter range no later than 6/5.

In 1976 we plan to accomplish the following:

1. Larry is currently in the process of remapping the Allotment in preparation for formulating a now Five-Year Management Plan for the Walker Basin Allotment. Because of this, we will not, at this time, outline grazing for the fall period, 11/1 to 12/31/76, but will wait until the new management Plan is approved. Larry anticipates finishing the remapping some time next month, After this we will set up a date to discuss different management option for the Allotment. We would like to have you formulate your ideas concerning management for the Allotment. I have enclosed some forms you may use to help you set up proposed use schedule the different pastures.

2. Complete the removal of the old fence (BF #60) between Walker Basin and the Thirteen Mile Rock Allotments.

Salt should be used as a tool of management to aid in distribution. It should be placed on feed and away from water and other areas of normal concentration.

As in the past, extreme caution should be taken with branding fires. If fire conditions become severe this summer, fire restrictions and/or a Forest closure may be implemented. In any case, vwe will keep you advised of such conditions and issue, you a permit to conduct normal ranch activities.

As Larry mentioned to you, as soon as we receive the new Ten Year Term Permits from the Supervisor's Office, we want to review it with you. This is necessary as some changes have been made in some parts of the permit. Larry will contact you to set up a convenient date.

All fences for which you are responsible will be maintained prior to moving cattle.

Sincerely,

Robert B. Gillies, Jr.
