Annual Plan Walker Basin (S) Allotment 1977

This plan outlines the range management and improvement work to be accomplished during the 1977 grazing season.

Permitted Numbers

Sullivan:

67 head of cattle - Term Permit · - 6/1 to 10/31

9 head of cattle - Private Land Permit - 6/1 to 10/31

V-V:

295 head of cattle - Term Permit - 6/1 to 10/31

39 head of cattle - Private Land Permit - 6/1 to 10/31

7 horses - Private Land Permit - 6/1 to 10/31

Rotation Schedule

Snake Ridge - 7/16 to 8/30

Horse Knoll - 6/1 to 7/15

Steer and Heifer - 9/1 to 10/15

Snake Ridge - 10/16 to 10/31

Cattle should be moved out of the Steer and Heifer pastures no later than 10/15 and out of the Snake Ridge pasture by 10/30.

Range Improvement Maintenance and Construction

In addition to annual minor maintenance of all improvements assigned to you, the following fences are scheduled for heavy maintenance:

1. BF 2063 - from the cattleguard South of Brandon Tank, East to Banfield Spring.

2. Fence 1441 - entire fence separating Horse Knoll and Snake Ridge pastures including Cherry Tree Tank Water Lot.

3. Fence 1854 - entire fence separating Horse Knoll and Pine pastures including Turkey Draw Tank Water Lot.

Cooperate with Riggle and Sasser of the M Diamond Ranch in the reconstruction of 2 miles of Boundary Fence 2071 from the powerline, East.

A stock tank in the shipping pasture will be cooperatively funded this year. We need to meet in the near future to stake a definate location.

Salting

Salt shall be placed no closer than 200 feet of any road and no closer than one-half mile from water.

Salt will be moved when use in the area approximates 35%. It will be moved to hillsides and other lightly used areas.

Horses

All horses will be kept in the designated horse pastures until fall shipping. During shipping, horses may be kept where they are most convenient for use.

Fire

Fire protection is the responsibility of every grazing permittee. Protection will include taking all reasonable precautions to prevent, make diligent efforts to suppress and report promptly all fires on or endangering such land and property covered under the Term Grazing Permit.

Other Activities Affectimg Allotments

The Sams Timber Sale will be sold in May of 1977, however, no cutting will be done in the next two years.

The Fain Timber Sale is also programmed for 1977. The Northern portion of this sale will affect your allotment near Mahan and the area South of Mahan. Cutting will not proceed on this sale until 1980.

The Soil Conservation Service has proposed a new weather station just east of Sugar Loaf Tank. An estimated two acres will be set aside for this proposal.
