2240 Range Improvement

Walker Basin Management Plan, Amendment
Forest Supervisor

May 12, 1987

The Proposal is to amend the Walker Basin Grazing Management Plan to include the drilling of a well, placement of a mobile home, and to do necessary improvement to the existing access road, at the winter shipping facility. A large corral, scales, a power line and telephone line are presently located on the site.

The ID Team has been unable to identify any significant issues or concerns associated with this proposal. Therefore, I recommend that the proposal be excluded from preparation of an Environmental Assessment.

Previous experience with range projects of this nature has shown that the proposal has limited context and intensity (40 CFR 1508.27(a) and (b)) and will produce little or no environmental effects, either as an individual action or as an element of a cumulative action (when taken with other similar actions) to either the biological or physical components of the human environment (40 CFR 1508.14).

Issues and concerns were considered including; soil, water, sanitation, existing access and improvements and impacts on wildlife habitat. Current laws, regulations, and policy are more than adequate to address potential issues and concerns.
