Watershed Issues:
  • Excessive sediment in Little Colorado River
  • Mercury in fish found in Lyman Lake
  • High nutrient levels in Rainbow Lake from septic and agriculture
  • Increased erosion and water pollution due to forest fires
Classes: Contact Apache Extension or MWS State Coordinator for upcoming class schedule & program details. MWS will be partnering with the Little Colorado Coordinating Council to offer a MWS Program for Coyote Creek in 2011.
Projects:
  • Involvement with the Show Low Creek Watershed Enhancement Partnership to improve Rainbow Lake through weekly water quality monitoring and buffer strip installation.
  • Involvement with the Coyote Creek project funded by ADEQ.
