Dietary guidelines
T
he new Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2000 include important information such as food safety and physical activity.

They have also been grouped into three categories for easier understanding: Aim, Build, Choose.

It's good to eat a variety of foods - at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day.

AIM for fitness:
Physical activity isn't limited to joining the local health club or training for a marathon. It means getting your body moving through various activities such as walking, biking and, of course, gardening!

BUILD a healthy base:
Follow the Food Guide Pyramid. Eat a variety of foods. Always keep foods safe.

CHOOSE sensibly:
Be sure to choose a diet low in saturated fat and sodium. Limit your intake of sugary beverages and foods.
