Meet Our Staff!

Stephanie Carlson
Stephanie Carlson
Academic Advisor
Retailing and Consumer Sciences

I grew up in the Las Vegas area, but Tucson has been home for eight years now. My passions include travel, film, and storytelling. I’m a Wildcat for life, having earned my B.A. and M.Ed. here at UA. Previously, I advised for the Communication major. I’m excited to work with all of you, and I appreciate your patience through this period of transition. Feel free to email me with quick questions, or you may schedule an appointment or come to walk-ins.

Liz Collins
Liz Collins
Academic Advisor
Family Studies and Human Development

I am from Long Beach, California and moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona, where I received my BA in Philosophy. The UA taught me that I love learning and that a college education is one of the most transformative experiences a person will have. I went on to earn my Master's Degree in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs from the University of Southern California, and am now pursuing my PhD in Higher Education here at the UA. Through my advising and through my own continued education, my goal is to create educational environments where students from diverse backgrounds feel comfortable and supported as they explore interests, work through challenges, and achieve personal goals.

Maureen Kelly, Ph.D.
Associate Professor

I grew up in Newport, R.I. and received my B.S. and M.S. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and my Ph.D. from Ohio State University (Go Bucks!!). Having spent the better part of my career in Tucson, I have worked with hundreds of Family and Consumer Science teachers around the state and adapted to MANY curriculum changes. Personally, I love the subtle seasonal changes of the Southwest, gardening, a good laugh, classic movies, and Don Henley.

Jacqueline Larriva
Jacqueline Larriva, M.A.
Coordinator, Internship and Career Development
Family Studies and Human Development

I was born and raised in Tucson and have lived most of my life in the Sonoran Desert. I attended the University of Arizona and graduated in 2007 with a BS in Family Studies & Human Development. Thanks to my McNair and UMPIRE mentors at the U of A, I decided to continue my education and left sunny, dry Arizona for cold, snowy New England. I received my master’s in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of Connecticut (UConn) in 2011. As a grad student I developed a greater love for research and I also discovered my passion for teaching, mentoring, and advising undergraduates. I look forward to working with FSHD majors and minors achieve their goals and dreams!
