Strengthening Families, Communities, and the Marketplace
Thank you for visiting the website of the John and Doris Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Arizona. We house a variety of innovative programs which are united by our commitment to strengthening families, communities, and the marketplace through research, outreach, and providing students the best, hands-on education.
For students, whether you are interested in research on child and youth development, directing e-commerce business for a major retail company, or working with vulnerable families, the Norton School has critically acclaimed programs that can help you achieve your aims. Our outstanding faculty members offer curricula designed to prepare you for a Bachelor of Science degree in either of two academic majors: Family Studies and Human Development (FSHD) or Retailing and Consumer Sciences (RCSC). Should you decide to continue your education after graduation, we have nationally recognized Master’s and doctoral programs. We also offer numerous online courses which attract students, community practitioners and business managers from all over the country who want to study with us but cannot come to campus.
Visit us at McClelland Park, built with contributions donated by nearly 2,000 individual and corporate donors. You can find out more about the John and Doris Norton School and also learn about our research and outreach, including the Frances McClelland Institute for Children, Youth and Families, the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing, and the Take Charge America Institute for Consumer Financial Education and Research (TCAI), as well as the School’s Cooperative Extension Program. These interdisciplinary institutes and centers link the Norton School with collaborators across campus and with industry, academic fields, and the greater Arizona community.
