Geographic information systems and geostatistics in plant disease epidemiology and management

The Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Arizona is using geographic information systems (GIS) and geostatistics to help manage plant disease problems at the regional scale (tens to hundreds of kilometers).  The goal is to use spatial analysis to focus on areas of high risk or incidence so that traditional and contemporary strategies for disease management can be most effectively applied.
